A festival built on
attention.
The USA Children's International Film Festival gathers storytellers from every continent around a single conviction — that childhood is the most consequential territory a filmmaker can enter.
We are not a charity and not a spectacle. We are a home for work that treats the inner life of a child with the full seriousness of art — sustained, luminous, and unforgettable. Filmmakers of every age are welcome, provided the story keeps its gaze on the world young people are growing into.
Founded in 2016, the festival has grown from a small gathering of sixty films to an international event drawing over a thousand submissions annually from more than sixty countries. We remain proudly independent, jury-led, and devoted to the singular power of cinema about childhood.
An emotional home.
The festival exists as a gathering place — for filmmakers who believe in the seriousness of childhood, and for audiences who remember what it felt like to watch a story that was truly meant for them.
A curatorial voice.
Our jury does not award the most popular film, or the most technically accomplished. It awards the film that holds its nerve — that looks at a child's world with patience, honesty, and craft.
An open door.
From five to ninety-five, any filmmaker who tells the truth about childhood is welcome here. Age is not the criterion. The gaze is.
The first edition.
Sixty films. One screening room. A jury of three who believed that cinema about children deserved the same rigour as cinema about anything else.
Going international.
Submissions arrive from forty countries for the first time. The Young Filmmaker category is introduced, with entries from filmmakers as young as seven.
The golden wolf-pup.
Our award statuette — the golden wolf-pup, reaching toward the stars — is commissioned and presented for the first time. It becomes the heart of the festival.
This year.
Over a thousand submissions from sixty-two nations. Six continents represented in the official selection. One belief, unchanged.
